Supporters will be able to purchase a standard full or half share. Full shares are based on the average needs of a family of four, half shares on a family of two. Amounts are based on previous suggestions from our supporters. As with the optional fruit listed below, the sweet corn will be raised by Rhoads Farms in Circleville. Red and white potatoes will be raised by Schacht Farms in Canal Winchester.
Supporters have the option to purchase additional fruit crops. Available fruits are: strawberries, red raspberries, blackberries, cantaloupe, red and yellow watermelons, honeydew melons and peaches. Most of the fruit in this category will be raised by Rhoads Farms.
Due to the risks associated with farming, factors such as inclement weather, disease and/or insects may affect the quantity and quality of the produce received. In extreme cases, certain crops may not be available due to these factors.
The variety of weekly vegetables will vary throughout the growing season, as the crops will mature at different times and for various lengths. At no point will any delivery include every vegetable and fruit crop listed on the what's in the share page, due to different maturity windows. Harvest will begin in late spring (5/24/2011) and will end no later than Labor Day (15 weeks).
In order to accommodate individual preferences, supporters may choose to not receive a particular crop(s) in any given week. Depending upon availability, that vegetable may be replaced with another crop within the same maturity window. While going through the sign up process, members will have opportunity to list their choice for substitutions. In the case of an optional fruit crop shortage, we will substitute a different fruit crop in its place. Optional fruit crops may not be used as substitutions for standard share crops, in the same way that a standard share item will not be substituted in the place of fruit.
At sign up, all members must pay a deposit to secure their membership for the 2011 season. Deposits will be determined based on the total price of items chosen. The deposit will be equal to 25% of total balance. For example, if total balance is $600 after all appropriate discounts are applied, the required deposit for sign up will be $150. The remaining balance will be due in three equal installments on the first of each month beginning the month after sign up. You will be prompted to set up automatic payments for these installments, if paypal is the chosen payment method.
Various farm credits, early sign up discounts and payment discounts for the 2011 CSA season are listed below.
